Somnera: an online CBT-I program designed by Dr. Ruiz
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the first treatment guidelines recommend for chronic insomnia in adults. Somnera lets you start it from home.
Why Dr. Ruiz built it
Not everyone can get to a sleep clinic for CBT-I. Dr. Ruiz designed Somnera so more people can follow the same structured steps he uses with patients, wherever they live.
- Week 1Track your nights in a simple sleep diary.
- Week 2Set your sleep window, starting from your usual bedtime.
- Weeks 3 to 8Widen your sleep window as your sleep improves.
- Results differ from person to person.

Common questions
What is Somnera?
Somnera is a 6- to 8-week online program based on cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Dr. Camilo Ruiz, a board-certified sleep physician, designed it so people can start CBT-I from home.
Should I use Somnera or see Dr. Ruiz in person?
Somnera suits adults whose main problem is trouble falling or staying asleep. See a doctor in person if you snore loudly or stop breathing in your sleep, are very sleepy during the day, take sleeping pills you want to stop, or have other health problems that affect sleep.
Is Somnera a replacement for medical care?
No. It is a self-guided program, not a diagnosis or a doctor's visit. If your sleep doesn't improve, or you notice symptoms of another sleep disorder, talk to a doctor.
